9th OECD Forum on Green Finance and Investment
The OECD Centre on Green Finance and Investment is pleased to announce that the 9th edition of the OECD Forum on Green Finance and Investment will be held virtually from 5-7 October 2022, as a series of high-level panels and breakout sessions focused on the theme “Moving from commitments to actions in the decade for delivery: towards impactful green and sustainable finance”.
While awareness of climate-related risks is increasing in the financial industry, climate and environmental risks remain poorly managed by financial institutions and markets, leading to a persistent misallocation of global public and private finance towards high-emitting assets and investments. Creating pipelines of bankable projects aligned with long-term climate and environmental objectives remains critical to mobilise investment at scale. The 9th Forum will bring together the most influential global actors from both the public and private sector to discuss policies and changes required to foster transformative investments in the real economy and achieve low GHG emissions and climate-resilient development while halting the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
High-level speakers during last year’s edition of the Forum have included notably: Tomoko Amaya, Vice Minister for International Affairs, Financial Services Agency (FSA), Japan; Masyita Crystallin, Special Advisor, Minister of Finance, Indonesia; Partha Dasgupta, Frank Ramsey Professor Emeritus of Economics, University of Cambridge; Thierry Déau, Chief Executive Officer, Meridiam and President, Finance for Tomorrow; John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, United States; Günther Thallinger, Allianz SE Board Member and Chair of the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance; and Ingrid van Wees, Vice-President, Finance and Risk Management, Asian Development Bank (ADB), amongst others.
The agenda for the 9th Forum is under development. Details and logistics will be communicated in the coming months and registrations will open in the summer. In the meantime, we invite you to discover the Centre’s latest publications and insights here and the recordings and summary of the sessions from the 8th Forum here.
